About the Team
Rachel Thomas-Murphy, Interior Designer and owner. Rachel was born in Kansas City but raised in McKinney, TX. In fact, even though she currently resides in Wichita, KS, part of her heart still lives in the South. In 2006, she began working at a local high-end furniture store and graduated from the Art Institute in 2008 with a B.S. in Interior Design. She has had the pleasure of interning and working as an interior designer at GLMV architectural firm, Cessna Aircraft, and Koch Business Solutions. In 2012, she officially opened Thomas Grey Interiors. Rachel is a single mom to three super cool kids and two ornery cats. Brynn, Jackson, and Ella are her driving forces for success. She believes that being a mother has been her life’s single greatest gift.
“When I see people stand fully in their truth, or when I see someone fall down, get back up, and say, ‘Damn. That really hurt, but this is important to me and I’m going in again’—my gut reaction is, ‘What a badass.’” -Brene Brown
Sid Washburn, Project Manager. Sid Washburn has always had a passion for the creative arts. She attended Ft.Hays and Washburn Universities working toward her Fine Arts degree. After school, she used her creative skills working at a local interior design firm, she then made a course change and studied Graphic Design at a time when the design softwares were burgeoning in to the business world. She used all her creative and design skills to have 29 year career. Sid retired for a short time and then joined Thomas Grey Interiors in 2017 where she is a project manager and does all their 3D renderings.
“When you love what your doing everyday, it’s not really work.”
Emma Grebe, intern Interior Designer. Emma is an interior designer who loves incorporating unique and personal touches in every project. Though still in school, she has had the privilege of being part of the International Interior Design Association for over a year and working with a few of Wichita’s professionals in both the interior design and architecture fields. Her goal after receiving an associate’s degree in interior design is to continue to get a master’s degree in architecture. Emma strives to design with excellence to go above and beyond clients’ needs through a creative and forward-thinking approach. At Thomas Grey Interiors she manages client presentations, specifies product and works with both commercial and residential clients. Her inspiration comes from her loving fiance Jacob, coworkers and wonderful family.
“Design is intelligence made visible.” -Alina Wheeler

In 2017, Thomas Grey Interiors created a civic initiative affectionately called the “Passion Project”. We focused on a local non-profit that shelters victims of domestic abuse. We believe that every man, woman, and child deserves a space where they feel safe. With the help of our amazing business partners, we were able to donate over $10,000 in goods and services to the shelter. In 2018, we continued our pursuit with Dress for Success. For DFS, we provided 3D renderings and campaigned for several projects throughout the space. it was identified early on that their garage space was in desperate need of electrical, insulation, sheetrock and paint. Although it was the garage, this space is utilized year round for volunteer to sort and organize donations. With the help of WABA we were able to provide Dress for Success volunteers a comfortable space. We are always on the look out for non-profits that need our help. If you or someone you know is interested in being our next “Passion Project”, email us and let’s chat about your space!
